Party Planner

Ok, maybe I am not a party planner, but the go-to person for agency events I am. An eye for all things classy, attention to detail, a passion for spreadsheets and checklists and the goal of a perfectly executed event make me an excellent event planner. While the event comes together seamlessly with the help of everyone on the team, one detail does not go untouched under my supervision and coordination.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Engineering Conference is an annual event that UDOT puts on. Engineers and consultants from around the state gather together for three days attending presentations on numerous relevant topics, networking and also attend the "trade show" aspect of the conference. Consultants such as ourselves (PPBH) set up booths at the South Towne Expo Center, enticing UDOT employees and other consultants to check out what we are all about. Many times at trade shows you will see a couple of employees hanging out behind a table, handing out pens and looking bored. PPBH has taken this opportunity to the next level by hosting an interactive activity at our booth. While this idea has spread like wildfire, we still do it best.

Last year we hosted a very successful PPBH Pinewood Grand Prix:

This year we went with the same theme, but the race track was in the main foyer of the event center and the PPBH booth served as a VIP lounge/pit stop:

With a PPBH partner on the Economic Development Corporation of Utah's (EDCU) board, the agency participated in the EDCU's annual spring golf tournament. Myself and another co-worker worked the tournament booth and engaged the golfers in an activity at our hole.

We gave bags of tees to all golfers that tee'd off at our hole. As a competition, golfers participated in the "Impaired Long-Drive Challenge," tee'ing off with a pair of impaired goggles on. The activity was such a hit, and I apparently did such a great job putting it on that I was invited to golf with executives from another company weeks later, which I had to kindly decline.
